How old is the dog.?
Are they fast moving? If so, that's fleas.
If slow moving, then it's lice, but there are two different kinds.
If a pup, or elderly, really it should see a vet. Lice can be a sign of poor health.
Personally I'd get a treatment from the vet, no matter what the age, since they are so rarely a problem. Then the vet will be able give the right treatment, and to advise if further treatment is necessary.

you can use alternatives They can bath the dog in neem shampoo to get rid of all sorts of mites/ lice etc and also feed coconut oil. there are other things but if its an infestation I agree with Dill, vet ,to find out what you are dealing with and then probably something like advocate.

it is lice the dog has and has now been treated with advocate. coconut oil is already a part of the dogs raw food diet, so it didn't help prevent in this case.

Frontline spray/spot on is usually effective against lice. Fleas may be getting resistant to it, but lice are
not.

dog now been treated with advocate

Didn't mean the coconut would cure more to help the skin that maybe itchy. Please she has got a diagnosis and treatment although these chemical things are horrid sometimes we have to bite the bullet and use them
