Hi all,

Day 2 in our house and mums being very attentive!

The puppies are feeding well, twitchy in sleep and active.

My questions are two:

1: what sort of noises should they make?

The puppies make little grumbling sounds, kind of like kittens, it's a deep sound and kind of sweet not grating....occasionally if knocked off a boob or when mum cleans them they squeal.... My last litter was quieter and the one before that I can't remember (it was 8 years ago!) is the mewling normal?

2: Weights: all puppies lost weight in the first 24 hours, completely expectedly. They were all nursing well. Mums milk is coming in well and she's eating, drinking and constantly with them allowing them to suckle.... 4 pups gained today. However 4 lost again... One I'm not that worried about as she only lost 8g's over the two days two more that lost a total of about 20g today less than yesterday, hoping for a gain tomorrow..
The one I'm worried about is the first born...he was 470g born and lost a whopping 35g's in the first 24hours, miles more than the rest, then today he's lost a further 34g's making 69g's lost!
He's still active, nursing, no louder than the rest.

My plan is to allow him to feed alone 3 times a day and to supplement him if no gain tomorrow....does anyone have any further ideas? Anyone had this sort of loss?
