Topic Dog Boards / General / Exporting puppy to Spain

Hi ,
just looking for some advice really..I am looking to export a puppy to my friend in Santa Cruz Tenerife. I am recieving soo much conflicting advice online as to the requirements needed for the puppy to travel. The puppy will be flying from Manchester with Monarch Airlines. Does the puppy need the rabies vaccination before it can fly or can it travel before 12 weks old with its puppy vaccinations. I have applied for a pet passport and the puppy has been microchipped.
Any help would be appreciated as I feel I am going round in circles.

I exported to Spain this summer. The puppy MUST have the pets passport with rabies vacc so cannot travel until 3 weeks after rabies vaccination. So you are talking about 15-16 weeks of age. You also need the pup wormed, and as my new owner pointed out the other various problems in Spain we also had him treated with Stronghold (to prevent heartworm) and had him wear a Scalibor collar for a week before he left and then he kept it on until he was old enough to be vaccinated against Leishmaniosis -they have to be 6 months old for this.

If you need any more details, I can put you in touch with my puppy buyer in Spain as I am sure she'd be happy to help.
