Hi (SORRY THIS IS SO LONG)

My 10 year old staffi Maisie had been suffering from diarrhoea on and off for a couple of weeks and looked like she was loosing weight. I took her to the vets who thought it may be due to the metacam she was on for her arthritis. The weighed her and she had lost weight from when she was last weighed in June. They took her off metacam and gave her tramadol instead as well as some omeprazole and asked to see her a week later, she had lost more weight, the week after had put a bit on and the week after that lost some again so they took a blood test and said they would phone later that day with results which they didn't and I phoned them but no one available, I phoned again on the Monday and reception left vet a message to call me back but I heard nothing, by Wednesday I assumed they had come back clear as no one had contacted me. Although I was concerned about maisie as she had vomited that weekend and again a couple of days later as well as the diarrhoea and looked quite thin, she had aslo not moved off sofa all day, seemed really lethargic and was looking at me in a way I thought she wasn't right. I phoned vet again who finally gave me blood test results which showed a couple of things were abnormal. She suggested if I was concerned to get her to vets sooner rather than later to have her checked over. I rushed her in and they decided to keep her there and put her on fluids and scan her the next morning. They phoned to say there was a mass next to her intestines which they thought was lymphoma and was probably inoperable due to where it was, so I could put her to sleep or have chemo and steroids and get another 1-4 months with her until she would deteriorate and would have to be put to sleep. She stayed in vets until next day and had some needle aspirations to confirm it which came back inconclusive. She came home for the weekend and was happy and playful, then back to vets this morning to stay overnight to do endoscopy tomo to check if lymphoma and not a tumor, foreign body or severe inflammatory reaction although they still think lymphoma. Im worried about the anaesthetic with her being unwell !!!! And cant decided which option to go with although im drawn to the chemo with her being like her usual self over the weekend although I know its probably because of the 4 lots of meds she came home on. Has anyone else gone through chemo ?

Thanks for any advice

Sorry you find yourself in this position. I have an 8 year old who is doing really well on chemo for Lymphoma. He has had very few side effects and went into remission very quickly. The treatments he copes with really well and my own vet has been able to do them. I feel I have already had an extra 6 months of an active happy dog .

Sam's diarrhoea has now been cured so we are going to ignore  the lump and hope it  disappears
