Anyone here had PennHip done instead of or as well as BVA? I have 2 imports coming in and I want to make my decision on who is staying with me (other is going to another breeder) based on their hips as well as temperament. I know PennHip can be done from 16 weeks too which makes more sense rather than keeping 2 dog's for 10 months until they can be BVA scored. Just wondering what people's experiences have been and what kind of money to expect to pay?

Thanks

I enquired and the prices I was quoted wree astronomical (around £300) and as it's not an official scheme in UK and they would have to be hip scored anyway I decided I was better off in future having elbows scored as well, not an issue in our breed, but with ever shrinking gene pool doesn't pay to be complacent.

Hmmm that's not as bad as I thought actually. I spoke to Moyfarm vets who I use for hip scoring and they said they would xray before a year to assess hips but wouldn't be too keen to do it before 6 or 7 months as Michelle felt the growth plates would be too open still but advised it would only be an indication.

Brainless can I ask which vet you enquired with?
