Hi all,
Wondering if anyone had noticed a change to the Naturediet food? Used to be quite firm with obvious bits of rice and veg but today we opened a pack (first one from a new box), and it looked like normal tinned dog food complete with jelly. Never seen it like this before.
Not sure if its changed or if there's something else going on?
Thank you.

A friend of mine mentioned it has recently been changed to look like this.

Thanks Goldmali
Mine has the senior one very occasionally if I haven't had chance to make his food. This last lot looked more like pate and wetter. He ate it but wasn't keen on the texture

I had an order about 3 weeks ago and found the lamb to be different from the norm.
When I e-mailed VetUK to enquire/complain they explained to me that Naturediet were in the process of changing their manufacturing process, they are now cooking the product in the pots which gives rise to the different appearance and the gravy/jelly being present, this new production method also 'apparently' means that the packs took like they have less vacuum.
They certainly appear and feel to have little or no vacuum.
They have started the new method first on the Lamb.
My dogs have eaten it and seem OK.
Yesterday I took another delivery of the Lamb and also the Chicken and Lamb, I'm not really very impressed because the apparent lack of vacuum on the packs makes me wonder how it can keep it's freshness, plus the Chicken and Lamb which is now been made using the new method had all popped and the meat and juice was all over the inside of the box.
I'm waiting to see if VetUK will replace this damaged case.
I'm considering changing to Forthglade as to be honest I'm not too taken with the new production method.

I've heard this a lot about Naturediet trays leaking. I have tried them and they opened quite easily and now we prefer Wainwrights trays, we have the opposite issue with those...trying to get them open..but thankfully that means the food trays fresh and the food is good. I wish they would include a bit of bonemeal too though.

I've not tried it myself, but notice Canagan are now doing a grain-free wet food, in tins. Might be worth considering? (

Thanks everyone.
I'm not sure I am too happy with the new product either. My boy wouldn't eat his breakfast this morning...so guess he's not too happy.
I might drop Naturediet an email, they have been really responsive to questions in the past. Just to confirm that the changes are all due to the manufacturing process, that there's been no change in ingredients etc.
I am going to take a look at the alternatives that have been mentioned. Are there any other alternatives to consider? The thing is that the offers you could find on Naturediet made it relatively economical compared to others...

I think someone already mentioned forthglade. I got on really well with it (well my dog did! Haha). They do a complete and a complimentary and it's quite good value. Other then that I liked Natures harvest - but only ever seen it in P@H.
Oh dear! I threw out 18 trays because I thought they were faulty :( Why do manufacturers do this?
Only just read this. I feed all four of mine on ND and they love it! But I too have noticed that it has become much wetter in texture, in particular the chicken and veg one which is my favourite (well, not mine personally you understand LOL). I liked the fact that it was blander and firmer than the other flavours. It is a pity that the makers can't leave things alone - if it ain't broke why fix it?
Still as my lot all like it (and one has even lost weight on it at last) and I can get it delivered to my door for free I will continue to use it at present.

I've been reading a lot about the new type of packaging and how a lot of the cartons are failing. I've recently bought a case of senior and one carton is about to explode so that will be going back. My sick girl is not keen on her kibble and wouldn't eat the ND so Ive just had a delivery of Arden Grange salmon and potato wet food, also got some liquid convalescent diet just in case. I mixed the S&P into the complete and she seemed to really enjoy it.
I won't be buying any more cases of ND, they're just too hit and miss.
I had lots of leakage in my last order of ND too. Have swapped to Nutriment and all seems well so we are sticking to that for now.

Hi all,
We, I think, have found a solution that works for us. In the emergency of having no food that our Weim boy would eat, we bought a pack of Wainwrights grain free trays and he adores them. He's never gone mad for any food but he's eating every scrap and I've not noticed any adverse effects at all. As he went off the F4D biscuits as well since they changed their recipe, we've also got some of the Wainwrights grain free dry food and he loves that too. Our Weim girl, on the other hand, scoffs all of them like she's been starved or something! Much easier to please.
So, as long as the dogs are happy, I am happy to keep them on this. It has the advantage of being more economical than the other two as well!
