We have a 10 month old male Border Collie and would like to bring another 1 into the household we have been offered a 8 week old pup male. now if we bring it home will it be ok for them to mix as the pup will not be inoculated, What's the best way to go about integrating them. We will be getting the new pup inoculated straight away, but there will be a 2 week gap between jabs any help gratefully received

As long as your current dog is fully vaccinated it'll be safe for the new puppy to mix with him. :-)

My main worry would be that it is to soon to have another puppy.  I would not let you have one, without knowing you were an expert trainer and lived and breathed dogs with no other commitments.

You will have to take great care when allowing them to play as the older pup may not have the sense to hold back in his play, and too much could cause damage to the baby pup.

As they mature you may also find that they may compete, and in the meantime any training you have instilled in older pup may fly out the window and training the new one be much harder too.

we both live for our dog my wife only works a hour a day school times, Troop is good with other dogs especially smaller dogs. We take him to lessons walk him 3-4 times a day give him a long run at nights

I would worry about two male dogs so similar in age. It is vastly different to being friendly to dogs they meet out and about, to staying friends with dogs they live with full time. Chances are once they hit maturity, eventually they may fall out. It happens in many breeds and indeed I have a friend who has two male Border Collies she has to keep apart all the time.  You'd be better off with one of the opposite sex. Neutering doesn't always help a lot either. I have had plenty of bad experiences in the past so now never leave two dogs of the same sex alone together if we go out, even if they have never had an argument before. A few years ago we left the house for an hour to go to the vet with a cat, and found that while we were gone one of my male dogs (who is entire) had attacked a neutered male, and almost killed him. The fight came out of the blue and was very serious indeed. It was a month before we even knew if the neutered dog would live. The two dogs have never met again since then, the entire dog now lives in a kennel. Yet this dog is perfectly happy to meet other male dogs at walks, shows etc, and is always friendly.

You mentioned in your other post that your existing pup is lunging at cars and your wife is scared of being pulled over.

I would recommend you invest your time with this pup and correct this behaviour before you bring in another puppy which could very well learn the unwanted behaviour from the existing dog.
