Hi. Not posted on here for a while as all has been fairly ticketyboo :)
My TT bitch, who recently finished being in season, isn't eating well. This usually happens after a season but now she has no competition for food as we sadly lost her mum Tara 5 weeks ago. She was almost 16 but is very sadly missed.
Does anyone elses bitches lose their appetites after a season and if so how do you go about getting them to eat sensibly again? She was on the plump side but is now starting to look like a hat rack, which she did look like when she was younger as she had bad digestion issues.
Shes not really missing Tara as I was always the one she looked on as 'Mum', her protector!! I don't doubt she misses the actual companionship of her mum but not to the point of being that bothered. Also, she always goes a bit moody/down after a a season so I was advised to give EPO capsules which have helped in the past.
Really I'm just curious to know if others have this issue with a bitch just out of season and what do you do?
Thanks
Anne

I had one that was like this, called her the anorexic, but motherhood eventually sorted her out.

Pleased to report that little madam has now decided to come out of her decline ;) She has now decided to eat her food although she is still a bit iffy with dry kibble. I am trying her with fresh fish, cooked in water, and some fish & potato kibble PAH own make. She's not keen though on that. Still we will persivere. I'll trick her and give it as a treat when she has obeyed a command!! She is always greedy for her rewards :)

I use kibble as training treats to get mine to eat.
Funny how she won't touch it in her bowl, but will do tricks and retrieve for the same thing out of the same bowl !
