has anyone tried these with their dogs? i was at jollies yesterday and saw them on special offer. even though all of mine are 35 kg plus i got the medium ones and have to say that these were more than enough! my youngest struggled to finish hers and the older ones definitely took longer than they do with the odd denta stix i give them.

but...and please don't laugh....i tasted a bit and they seem quite sweet to me. doesn't that defeat the object? the packet says to give 2 a week to a spaniel type dog and that there's no added sugar but seems like a lot of sugar twice a week for a dog - especially spaniel sized. am i wrong?

I bought these as a treat for my lot the other week as they were on special offer. I cut the medium ones in half to start with and they didn't know what to do with it. Eventually, they worked out they could eat them but then, threw them back a couple of hours later! I can't say I blame them as they looked pretty weird to start with. Glad I didn't give them a whole one each and the other unopened packets ended up in the bin.

I gave mine half of one and it made her ears red and hot so they went in the bin.

I've got the appropriate size for weight of dog but he only gets half at a time. he eats them ok but they don't seem to do much for cleaning his teeth which is what I was hoping for.

I got the medium ones and halved them for my lot but they don't seem too impressed either. Take longer to eat and do chew more than the usual dentastix but can't say they make such difference. They really are sweet and make me think it would be like brushing my own teeth with sugar!

I checked out the ingredients , and decided not to buy ;-)

I gave my aussies them and one nearly choked when got near the end of it and it stuck on his tooth and as the other part was in the mouth could not use his paw to get it off. Will not be giving them again. Phoned them up to complain and they send me some vouchers and were grateful for the feed back.

here you go the ingredients Rice Flour, Wheat Starch, Glycerin, Gelatin, Gum Arabic, Calcium Carbonate, Natural Poultry Flavor, Powdered Cellulose, Sodium Tripolyphosphate, Salt (Iodized), Potassium Chloride, Vitamins (Choline Chloride, L-ascorbyl-2-polyphosphate [source of Vitamin C], Vitamin A Supplement, Niacin, D-calcium Pantothenate, Folic ...

number three in the list is glycerine personally I would rather they had a raw bone or chicken carcass

My eldest dog would have choked on hers trying to swallow it as fast as possible. Luckily I could hold the end and prise it out of her mouth before it went all the way down her throat. I definitely shall not be buying them again.

Since when does extra starch in the diet help to keep teeth clean?

Personally,  I have found the opposite.   Smaller amounts of starchy carbs in the diet lead to less gunk on the teeth and consequently less tartar.

I gave one to mine the other night and he felt very ill after!!! I won't be purchasing again. I usually use the Logic chews which I find much better!

Mine won't touch the Logic chews, but they do like Dentastix, though they certainly don't get one a day! I also give them the little toothbrush shaped chews from Antos which are all natural ingredients and also look really funny when they chew them with the brush 'handle' end sticking out! :-D
