Hi All,

New member, but been a browser for a while now!

I wondered if anyone could help/recommend a decent dry food for a 12month old Bulldog.

I rescued him from a neglected home at about 6 months old, nothing serious just a bit unloved/unwanted/uncared for, since having him I've fed Naturediet wet food, and he loves the whole range (Adult/puppy/sensitive) and does very well on it, however I wanted to move over to a dry food, before the Naturediet he was on a cheap dry food with the previous owner, which made him hyperactive, and to add to the problem I'm trying to fight with various skin problems, came to me with demodectic mange which is now under control with Advocate (on Vets instructions) however its a losing battle with yeast infections on his folds. (obviously gets washed/wiped etc in folds after meals, swimming etc, and now going down the antibacterial wash/wipe route, results TBA...)

I wondered if there are any other Bulldog owners out there that could recommend a good quality dry food, suitable for sensitive dogs/skin/yeast problems, and that might help his immune system more (to help with mange) as reading up on it, food can play a major factor in the skin issues, I might just stick with the naturediet but he makes such a mess of himself eating wet food I literally have to scrape half of it from his face every meal time, which again isn't doing his face folds any favours.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Do you know what he has sensitivities to?
Simpsons do a good range of grain free foods. Either their Sensitive range - a choice of different meat proteins with potato eg duck or lamb etc - or their pricier 80/20 range, which is 80% meat/fish with 20% fruit and veg

If yeast infections are an issue I would steer clear of anything with grains, and that means most dry and wet foods.

There are more reasonably priced grain free dry foods, (though they won't be as cheap as foods with grain) like Eden  http://www.edenpetfoods.com/ and Simpsons 80/20 http://www.simpsonspremium.com/80-20

One of my puppy owners uses Eden on his pup and the Old Time Bulldog his flatmate owns.

why do you want to move back to a kibble ? Particularly if he is doing well on nature diet If he has yeast issues you need something grain and carb free as the yeasts "feed" on sugars. Dogs with these type of problems of do well on 100% raw with no fruit or veg
If you don't want to go towards raw I would look at something like orijen which is carb/grain free
