Only once in all my years of showing(30+) have I ever been asked to do a reverse triangle in the breed ring. I done all the junior handling classes with L's, T's etc. I doubt very much if you will need it in the breed ring..a goodly amount of judges wouldnt know what one was..lol. Practice by all means for the handling class though :)

I've entered a few adult handling classes I have been asked in the past for reverse triangles, letter t, letter l and a figure of 8 not all judges do this. A few do. These were at open shows. But never been asked this in the breed classes.

When I started showing dogs the class started off doing two cicuits of the ring in one direction, then two circuits (with the dog on the other side of the handler) in the other. Triangles could be in either direction, and as today with the 'up and down' you needed to make sure the dog was beween you and the judge at all times.

Yes it is more than possible that you will be asked to do reverse triangles along with 8's, T's and L's and possibly anatomy questions, especially if the class has a number of experienced handlers and the judge needs to split hairs.   You may also need to move dogs with another handler in which case you need to know in which order to come back down if the judge moves to the side.

Competition in the adult handling classes is becoming as competitive as in the juniors.

Yes, I've been asked to do reverse triangles, Ts, Ls etc. Once I had to do an E!

My point being you will be asked to do the 'oddities' in a handling class, as a matter of course but not in the breed ring, where the dog is being judged.

I think 'odd' patterns are more likely to be asked for when in a handling class, unless the shape of the ring dictates a reverse triangle - it's all about not getting between the judge and your exhibit, and some Breed Shows will like to have the ring set up so the people watching see the dog - which may mean this pattern has to be done.    Just be ready for anything, including switching your dog from the left to the right, so you don't get between judge and dog.

I tend to think if a judge can't feel and then confirm by moving without 'fancy' patterns then they maybe aren't up to the jub - one for the little black book!!
