Does anyone use the Nylabone Souper with the knuckle end type of chew bone. It was recommended to me but I have always wondered about the dangers of nylon bones should bits break off. The ads say that they are indestructible but I tend to take that with a grain of salt, so prefer to speak to people that have actually used them for an opinion. This is for my Beagle as she loves to chew and she gets bored with the Kong unless it is filled with food ( which I am trying to avoid food as she has a weight problem) I thought the chicken or bacon Nylabones might interest her, but am worried about the dangers.

Nylabones are the ONLY toys I have found that one of my Malinois cannot destroy in seconds. She has never managed to break pieces off, but the time will come when they get smaller and if in a circle or similar, a break will appear after months. But never have I had a big enough piece break off for it to be swallowed, it's more a case of it being chewed gradually over weeks/months making it smaller.

Used them and found them very good and safe.Only tiny slithers of nylon come away through time.

I've used the large size Nylabone with mine and they last and last.   However, once bits start coming off, they should be chucked.

In the shop we used to always recommend them to people that had quite destructive dogs. They arnt indestructible but they can last a good time! They are formulated so that a chip the size of a grain of rice can be digested without problem. But you will have to chuck it if it starts to look a bit depleted - or if your dog can get big bits off! My terrier loves her "bacon" flavour one :D

Many thanks for comments, I have ordered the large bacon one ( I was told the chocolate ones are popular but I cannot find any in this flavour in the uk) so lets see how she gets on with this.

Have had them in the past with no problems other than after a short period they loose any interest, which I've always thought was due to them loosing there flavour.

My friend's dog had a chipped tooth which her vet said was caused by chewing a Nylabone. I do, however, let mine have some as they love them.

I buy them well actually I have brought 3 over the last few years one for my beloved late Sal (SBT) then for my beautiful adult rescue Bella (SBT) both of those the Big chew Beef bone ones which are/were well chewed. I recently brought a multi pack of powerful strong nylon chews small one for my nieces JR Jasper he is 1 and he adores chewing, and adores it.

Although I do agree Bell has lost interest in hers it is a year old so I imagine the smell has gone occasionaly she has a chew but only if I put it on one side ready to throw........then she wants it.

Oh meant to say have ordered the peanut butter one today to see is she likes that.

I've considered getting one for mine but am put off as on the back of the packet it says that small bits the size of rice may come away and if swallowed should not cause a problem. I don't trust that sentence should not cause a problem.

Just and update.
I bought the large knuckle end type bone in bacon flavour and when I gave it to my Beagle she ran a mile. She seemed to think it was a weapon that she was going to be beaten with ( she was a rescue with a not very good start in life) I put a thin layer of cheese over the surface and she licked it off, but she was standing ready to run at any movement from me that made her feel it was a danger. I put it in the side of her bed, so what happens - she sleeps anywhere except that bed.
That was a great success - not.

I've got a funny youngster, I can only liken her to a 'napping' - type horse. Totally friendly, carefree etc until a certain something spooks her....with her it was a Pigs ear!...hilarious to watch...the pig was still alive as far as she was concerned... :-)
Within the day she demolished it.

Nylabones For me for as long as they've been manufactured, never seen anything but TINY bit come off.

Have you tried a Bullbar? They're from the same people that do stag bars but they're really good. Nando isn't a big chewer but he loves his bullbar!

The only bone I have tried is the Bacon flavour Nylabone mentioned above, I wonder if she will be just as scared with the Bullbar. I will leave it a little while to see if she gets used to the Nylabone and if not I may try the Bullbar. Why oh why do we adore our dogs so much.....

Because we need them in our lives.   :-)
