Can anyone suggest where I can purchase noise recording equipment that can record long periods of time?

What kind of recording equipment? theres a vast variety & what length of time?

My pocket camera with duracell recharbles can go for at least 3 hours and I think maybe double or treble that once the batteries have been run in, & I worked it all out, thats video & sound.

Providing you get an external mic you can get recording software for free & record onto PC, cnet is good place for free software.
