We are planning a camping weekend of about 40 people and 50 dogs in August. I don't know the area at all and it's about 150 miles away, so I'm not best placed for reconnaissance work. Ideally we'd like somewhere that will allow off lead walking and (even better) somewhere for the dogs to swim. Given that we'll be out on the BH weekend this could prove impossible, but if anyone can suggest a walk of between 3-6 miles that would be deeply appreciated!

Have a look at Ferry Meadows, I haven't been there for many years but it was a popular place to walk and has lakes etc this is their website  http://www.neneparktrust.org.uk/ferry-meadows

Thanks JackieS...do they allow free running for dogs?

Dogs used to be free running there, but it has been over 10 years since I have been there, (live in a different part of the country now) it might be a good idea to ring and check if there are areas that are off limits to off lead dogs.

Good thinking, JackieS--I'll do that. I have a feeling that a horde of 40 or more Welsh springers off lead, or diving into a lake, might not be everyone's cup of tea :-)
