Has anyone had their dog on prednidale? My dog has now been put on them, 25mg and 5mg twice a day for 14days, vet did say she would be more thirsty and pass more urine but, I just wondered if anyone had any info regarding prednidale, cheers.

Assuming it's the same as what is called Prednisone in Canada, yes, my boy started on it on Friday.  We think he has Inflammatory Bowel Disease and nothing I've tried in the past month and a half has worked so we are bringing out the big guns.

Pred. is a steroid and has some serious side effects.  Our ESS was on it for 7 years with no consequences we could determine but in my readings that was probably extremely good luck.  Short term use I do not worry about much but with Oban we might be on it for the rest of his life which may be shortened as a consequence.  However, even knowing that I ok'd it because I want quality of life to be the uppermost consideration and he just can't keep on pooping like he's a fire hose.  Meaning pressurized liquid.  Yes, he is peeing more often.  Whisper, our ESS, didn't but she had weaned down to a low, maintenance dose for her pain control.

One thing about Pred., you must wean off it very slowly.  Please do not be tempted to just quit when you read bad things about it.  Follow your Vet's instructions.  You can search on-line for information straight from the manufacturer as well.  Pred. does do a lot, a lot, a lot of good when it's called for.

My girl took it 25 twice a day short term.
She was ridiculously thirsty&as a result had accidents in the house even when we got up in the night to take her out.. She also panted a bit after having the dose and was very hungry too (eating sticks etc not food items if we would let her).

Thanks for that information, and I wouldn't ever just take her off them, the vet did tell me they would gradually lower the dose till she stopped them if she doesn't need to be on them forever but fingers crossed she won't need to be.
