WOULD like the VET to take a look, just to rule out infection

when mine had one some males were very intrested in her as if she was in season but others wernt she was also licking her self alot. We thought she may have had an infection at first as ive hurd that can cause the same reaction but on vets second visit she had milk so we knew it was a phantom.

Something about her is attracting the male, so on that basis alone, I think I'd have the vet take a look, just in case there is infection going on.  And if she's having a phantom, I'd seriously consider getting her spayed.  If it's happened once, it may well keep happening, pulling her down.   Somehow lactation with a false pregnancy seems to go on and on - far longer than if there were puppies!

Yes, by all means keep them apart - she doesn't need to be bothered by him when she'll not be feeling that great in any case.   But do get this checked by your vet just in case (thinking Pyometra, maybe?)

she has had phantoms before... my boy has never bothered until now although he is more mature ,  vet visit booked for tomorrow , no discharge, she is normal in every other way health wise eating drinking etc: just the odd behaviour in relation to the phantom.
We were considering having her spayed....

will update:
thanks for replies

I have been to the vet today with a bitch for her booster jab.  I mentioned to him that one of my boys has been going mad trying to mate her for a couple of days now.

Durrr, don't know if the brain was on holiday.  Don't know why I didn't think.  Her anal glands were solid poor thing.  He apologised that she would be pretty bruised as they were a sod to empty.

Not saying that you would be as dopey as me mind, and not think.  :-)

LOLOL!   I'm usually quick to go to anal glands but not this time (why did I miss that one).   Without doubt that would get him going and chasing her around.   Come to think of it, my boy has been interested in my spayed Whippet's back end of late - out to see what's going on back there ............

hi all.. been to vets.. he checked her over , he was of the opinion its just the phantom but he scanned her for my benefit more than his ;)  , no infection or concerns..  she has a very small rash on her belly (she has grass allergy at certain times of year) so he gave me a course of synulox for the rash which will also cover her if any infection is possibly festering.. he also gave me galastop in case she starts producing milk (not at the moment) if I dont use it I can take it back and be refunded..cant say better than that... covers us as we are going to Cornwall with the dogs .. me ..I'm a happy bunny now!!

I also think going away change of enviroment and routine will do her the world of good she wont have time to mope!! >g<

It's a darn nuisance.  Several folk have mentioned it, but admin don't seem to have picked it up.  I was hoping that, as a few of us didn't get the loss of our notifications, and wondered why they had stopped, that they might be kind and give them back to us.  :-(
