Topic Dog Boards / Health / Distance to Vets?

Is it acceptable to register with a vet in a totally different area from where one lives or will the vet not accept such a registration?

I have just moved home and would like to consult a vet who practices in homeopathy as well as conventional medicine and the vet I am interested in is some 60 miles away. The distance is of no consequence to me.

You can register with any vet and more than one if you wish but you will need to consider plans in case of emergencies

Vets are not ruled like a Dr's surgery, you can go wherever you like as they are private and you go to them as opposed to them dealing with an area and an amount of people. I am registered at three surgeries, one where I used to live, one where I live now and one where my eldest brother lives 200 miles away, as I want to be covered for visits. :-) So yes, go wherever you like. :-)

Thanks for that reply.

On checking local vets, there is a local practice that opens 7 days a week that see patients without registering for emergencies etc. - they don't charge a consulting fee either, just meds, treatments etc.

Barring accidents (touch wood) I have pupsters with no breed related health issues, just a yearly check up - fingers x it stays that way.
