Anyone been the only one of the breed entered?

I am in this situation for the first time on Friday. I put this down to the club show the next day, which we are going to as well. Friday is our ringcraft club show :)

How was it?

The toy group judge and the AV judge is the same as our (well, my) breed judge. He's doing most of the toy breeds.

I know about having to withdraw if the groups are after the AV :)

Had this once with my American cocker at a show, we were judged as normal and just given the first and BOB rosette at the same time I think. Only annoying thing was we never got a critique, and as he was not a dog that ever beat another dog at open level we would have rather liked one - lots of good things about him like head shape, construction and movement, just he was too big and not enough coat. She judged all the gundog breeds and the group and did no critiques, so it wasn't just that she couldn't be bothered to do a write up for a single dog. :-(

A few times, but as I seldom enter less than 3 dogs more common for me to be the only exhibitor. Happens a lot in my breed at open shows and occasionally at Championship shows without tickets. It's not much different to any other times but what riles me is when it happens to people and they then shout all over Facebook about how they went BOB -without saying it was only them there! I always point out it was only my dogs, it seems so deceitful otherwise.

Used to go to a class with 1st GSD,- (not registered) got friendly with a lady with 2 toy poodles and used to see her quite often at exemption shows. One of the organisers for the club had a toy breed and regularly could be heard 'oh, got a 2nd at ... open show (only 2 entered) or got 3rd at..........champ show (4 entered - 1 absentee)
She never mentioned the times when she got beaten by our GSD & Poodle in non-sporting or open in the exemption shows :-D :-D

Oh I always mention how many it was out of- don't see the need not to really :)

Never have this problem in my breed....

I don't know Toolz, I've had BOB when it's been me and 2 puppies present (1 other dog entered but absent), and my friend got BOB out of her and 1 other of my friends (still don't know how the judge picked the blenheim instead of the ruby that day lol). :-)

No you don't HAVE to withdraw, and if the group and breed judge is doing the AV's I'd stay in to see what the judge would think of your dog against competition.  It would be more pleasant to hopefully beat some than pe4rhaps go in the gro7up and not be placed, so not having beaten anything on the day.

I recently was beaten out of an entry of two in AVNSC and was so disappointed to miss a large AV class that they had changed rings for, and I missed the announcement.

U get that with my breed in open shows here, there are normaly 2 of us in the local open shows. I can be the only one in my class at some champ shows.

I know of some people like that. At bath last year there was only 2 bitches in my breed, my girl and a puppy. We got the best oppersit sex. When I told anyone I made sure to mention there was one bitch puppy she beat.

A friend or a friend will post when her dog gets a 1st in class and say 1st in class of 4, then when u look up the results online there were 3 adcent.

To let you know, I got first and BOB but didn't get a place in the group or the AV class with the same judge.

The next day I qualified for Crufts (out of 8) so lol

Well done -it's so annoying waiting for critiques. Just hope it's a long one!

Where are they published, I keep looking at dog world, but was wondering if I am missing anywhere !
- By MamaBas [gb] Date 06.05.14 09:31 UTC
Judges are supposed to submit a critique but not all do.   They should appear in either DW, or Our Dogs but again there may be a delay, or they may not ever appear.   Club show critiques often appear in the Newsletters.

Thanks thought that was the case, would like to see my boys critique,  but hey ho, will keep checking.
