Hi I've heard that Benadryl is safe to give to puppies and dogs. I've looked at the dosage and would prefer to buy capsules. Trouble is there are so many different types. Wondering what ones you buy?

What are you using it for?
and - Where did you see the advice, as Benadryl in the USA is completely different to Benadryl in the UK.

USA benadryl is Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride - which is dold as Nytol in the UK
UK Benadryl is a non-drowsy anthistamine. If it's an antihistamine you're wanting, Piriton is safer.

Thankyou MsTemeraire. My pup is being car sick and has itchy rashes on her! I am in the UK. Also there are adders on the moors where we walk! If by chance she gets bitten I would like to be prepared and always carry an antihistamine with me. I have been reading up on it and in most cases Benadryl seems to be the answer! The vet had seen the spots/rashes and has told me to keep an eye on it. They haven't got any worse since seeing him! Thanks again for the info.
