Hello, please could I have some advice. This is my second litter and they are currently 8 days old. I weigh them every day to keep an eye on them and also to confirm they are gaining a similar amount of weight to pinpoint any that might need any extra attention from mum. I have been using kitchen scales with a large bowl however they are now wriggling around so much the display is all over the place. This happened last time so I bought a small digital fishing scale and used a little cotton bag to weigh them in. However the display was only in kg to two decimal places so not really accurate enough especially when the pups need worming.
I've looked at baby scales but they are only accurate to 10g which I'm not happy with. Can anyone recommend either a digital fishing scale that works in grammes (not just kg) or a more accurate baby scale that has increments of 1 gram please.
I bought 2 off ebay. One was like the one you have, but the other was in grammes. Can't remember what it is called as I have now lost it :-( But you can get them.
I use a 'Salter' Electronic kitchen scale that goes in 1g increments and 1/8th ounce in imperial, and goes to 5kg/11lb, which takes my pups to 7 - 8 weeks, after which a normal luggage scale with a bag works fine.
I use a large weigh pan, and make sure the pups are sleepy when weighed.
