Can I pick the brains of any kind cat people please?my friend has several cats, some rescue, and some she had as kittens. One of her young cats(not sure exactly as to age but 2years or younger)seems really skinny to me-you can feel her backbone when you stroke her.friend says she eats well, and poos are normal. Are some cats just naturally skinny?none of mine are!Any ideas, please?thanks!

More likely something wrong, but could of course be a variety of reasons especially if the cat goes outside. "Eats well" may not be good enough if the food isn't high enough in quality. Then the obvious thing to try first is worming as well as increasing or changing the food. Is the cat neutered? Skinny entire ones (either sex) is usually because they are not neutered -queens calling and stud pining for queens can lose a lot of weight. Also I have a couple of cats that don't like eating with the others so lose weight if not fed an extra meal on their own. Failing any of this it is a question of doing blood tests to check kidney function (cats can have problems at times before showing other signs) and anything else including FIP and infectious anaemia.

thanks goldmali,I will suggest those things to her,yes shes been speyed, she does go outside too.I asked if she d wormed her,(she hasnt a big tummy or anything)and apparently she has.Think shes fed on tinned food and go cat. Lets hope an extra meal away from the others will help.thankyou very much.
