I'm asking this question for my Mam, she has a 4 year old castrated Chihuahua who for the last couple of days has been having episodes of his jaw shaking / quivering and his cheeks twitching, on and off quite a few times throughout the day.
She is taking him to the vets hopefully they will fit him in tomorrow but I just wondered if anyone had any ideas before we take him.
He doesn't seem in any discomfort and for what we can tell his teeth all look fine.

My friends Chihuahua was shaking and was in pain, she took him to the vets Friday morning and the dog was in pain, had xray as vet suspected slipped disc, nothing did show on xray, but he was kept in on iv pain relief,he is home now on pain relief, hope all well with your mums boy.

Thanks for your reply Annabella, we took him to vets this afternoon. She suspects GME or Hunter syndrome she said one eye wasn't responding very well at all and the other side of his face looks like it is being pulled up and back slightly. It is only slight and most people wouldn't know there was anything wrong looking at him but, we all know our dogs so well, I guess recognising something is wrong more quickly has to be better than it going un diagnosed for longer. She has prescribed prednisone twice a day and will check him in a week but has said he will probably need an MRI . I'm hoping and praying its not bad as my Mam has just lost a dog to leukemia in January, I feel so sorry for her x
