Hi,

Just to let those who knew that our mwhd was due to whelp, that sadly there are no pups.
Hazel went in the 1st stage of labour yesterday afternoon and went into active labour at 3am. By 6am a pup was seen but Hazel was having difficulty expelling it, after no progress for 15 minutes I rang the vet who said to carry on using some traction, after another 10 minutes Hazel had ruptured the membranes, and it became clear that this was a breech presentation, we managed to get the shoulders clear but the head was truly stuck, we rang the vet again who said she would met us at the vets. We knew that would be no hope for that pup but hoped that a c section would give us a least 1 viable pup, sadly the vet rang to say that there was only the one.
We are away at 2 pm to pick her up, the vet advises us to spay her as in her last litter there again was 1 pup and that died after a very stressful 8 weeks.

Sorry about your pup :(

I am beginning to think this board is jinxed with caesars, I have never heard of so many as I have in the last few months from many different breeds, my bitch had to have one 8 weeks ago after a very stressful (for me) labour for just the last two pups and there seem to be more caesars than naturals recently.

Thanks for all your kind words.
Hazel is doing fine, except that since she has come home, she is either frantically looking for her pup or crying and howling. The only relief for her at present are the frequent naps she's having.
My partner is devastated that this has happened again, we were sure that this time we would be lucky enough to have at least 3 healthy pups, and it's terrible to be all geared up with the next 8 weeks planned, to have it all shattered.

HI, I do wonder whether I should constantly put homeopathic advice on the board, but her I go again. Ignatia is a wonderful remedy for grief, it has always worked for my dogs and helped me tremendously when my mum died. All three of you could take it to help with your sadness. If you take/give it for at least 3 days I am confident you will see a difference in Hazel and hopefully will help you too. Big hugs.

Hi westie lover,

Thanks for the advice, went out this morning and bought some Ignatia. Will give Hazel 2 pills every 2 hours for the rest of today and then 2 pills 4 times tomorrow and tuesday and take it from there.
The sceptic in me thinks that in 3 days she would be better anyhow, but at least I feel as if i'm doing something for her.
