My 10 yr old CKCS had a corn removed from his pad at the beginning of the year, another corn has aready grown on the same pad. Is it just one of those things or does it suggest there might be something more sinister going on. The vet didn't think it necessary to have the corn analysed

I have read that unrefined coconut oil can help. Rubbed onto the pads of the feet. Don't worry if they lick it off as it's edible anyway :-)
I've also seen improvement with sunflower oil added to the diet, just a teaspoonful a few times a week for a dog the size of a Cavalier King Charles.
Of course the coconut oil may be working internally as well, since it would be licked off by the dog;-)
I would also check the length of the nails too, as it may be that they are longer than they should be and the dog is standing awkwardly because of this ;-)
I never had any problems with any of my Cavaliers, but Mia, my old Lurcher used to have a recurring corn on one of her front feet, from being about 11 years old. I think it was because she had a hare foot, but why only one foot - I don't know. My (at that time) vet was no help, and I experimented with various human products to no avail. I eventually used to nip out the hard overgrowth (it felt almost as hard as a piece of grit) with the pointed type of nail clippers, and then used a fine emery board to try and keep it to a minimum. I could always tell when it needed doing, as she would pull to try and walk on the grass. Mia never objected to having her amateur chiropody carried out, so I don't think it hurt her - but I did use magnifying spectacles, and was careful.
Sam has had the corn removed today vet say's she usually see's about two dogs a year with corns but to have a dog with two on the same pad within two months is unusual
