Has anyone got a good recipe for dog biscuits. I'd like them to be hard - like bonios. I've got some out of date flour to use.
I use the same recipe as I use for liver(or sardine or cheese) cake and just over bake it. They never seem to mind too much.
So a cup of flour, an egg, a good dose of something tasty (about half pound) and a little milk to soften the mixture shape any way you like
Alternatively, I made some "yummy" low calorie biscuits the other week intended for myself - they were alright out of the oven and fresh but once they cooled down the dogs seemed to enjoy them more than me.
A cup of oats, a squished up banana and a good size blob of peanut butter, mix it all to a sort of smoothish stiff paste shape as desired and bake for about 20 minutes...
Thx a lot. Both sound great. I ll try them
I make these .. the recipe changes slightly each time as its done by eye :)
Handful of Porridge oats in a bowl, and add water to make it slooshy. Add in in your flavor - blended/chopped liver, table spoon of honey/peanut butter, some banana, some tuna, whatever you want them to be (I usually do honey and PB and add 2 tablespoons of each, since then they taste good enough for people!), and then enough flour to make it into a dough.
Roll out onto a floured board, cut into shapes, and bake. I do 180c for around 20/25 mins for crunchy but not too hard biscuits, but if you cook them less they are chewier, and longer they are harder
Scoff a couple myself and put the rest in the dog treat tin. You can freeze them in bags too :)
ooh yum, thats me baking this afternoon!!
looks like I have an afternoon in the kitchen now, no doubt the dogs will want to "help"
