Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / her temp has dropped... is this it???

i have never done the temperature checking before so i did of course get advice from my vet... he said below 37.2 means labour in 24hours. so i have been checking for days now and its always been around 37.7, but yesterday it went down to 37.4 slowly over the day, then this morning early on it was 38. its now dropped to 36.8!! i checked again 10 minuets later to ensure it was correct and it appears it was correct, so my vet also said it needs to stay low, so i will re-check later today... does it sound like this is the temp drop? we are on day 57

Sounds about right, you should get a temperature rise and then a drop, which is what you have - very exciting.

Don't leave her at all now, got everything crossed for you!

I start 7 days before the due date, taking temperature 3 times a day at similar times, so that you can see a pattern develop and see what's 'normal' for that pregnancy as they're all different.
Once you can see the normal pattern, then you can recognise the drop.
Temperatue taking is good to not only predict the whelping timing, but also if it goes up to (pre-pregnancy) normal or above for any length of time, then you know that the pups should be out and ask your Vet for advice.  :)
