Topic Dog Boards / General / puppy killed by e- cigarette

Heard on our local radio today that a 14 wk old puppy in Redruth, Cornwall died when she chewed a capsule out of an e-cigarette. It fell out of her owners pocket and the puppy bit into it. The owner is devastated and says he'll never forget the look of fear on his puppys face. What an awful tragedy.

How very sad.

Terrible.

However, I have no idea what that is.  Can anyone explain?  Probably I'm not the only one who's dog finds cigarette butts on the ground.

E-Cigarette is an electronic cigarette which is totally different to ordinary cigarettes this one was a device that liquid containing nicotine is added to,  there are other types

One bottle of liquid contains the same amount of nicotine as 200 cigarettes and I would imagine would be highly toxic to any being who ingested it.  They are flavoured and often smell very sweet so I can imagine they would be quite appealing to a dog

Dogs Trust have put an e-mail out about this on Facebook.  Hopefully people will read it and be made aware.
