Through a puppy enquiry today I've found out that a dog from the first litter my boy sired has been used on his owner's own bitch to produce an unregistered, not health tested litter. The double whammy is that we've recently discovered that there is an inherited eye problem in the rest of that boy's litter as the mother is affected and the bitch is  not a recognised colour. Both dog and bitch were sold as pets with restrictions on their registrations but the owner appears to think it was ok to breed them as she didn't sell the litter, she gave 2 away and kept 2 herself. I spoke to one of the puppy owners this evening as I felt they needed to know about the eye situation but the impression I got from her was I was making a fuss about nothing! I'm feeling very upset as she told me the Vet had recommended the bitch have a litter before she was spayed as it was good for her! I know that there's nothing I can do but I just feel so mad, do you all think I'm being stupid?

Nope, similar happened to me a few years back and it still miffs me now. There is nothing you can do as it's already happened, I learned sadly to walk away from these types of people, you have to move on and not get caught up in it all otherwise you will get even more upset about things you can't control (people's ethics)  But I know how you feel

Some vets have a lot to answer for yet they are quick to moan about unhealthy pedigree dogs and then somehow they end up blaming the show breeders!

No, I'd be livid, but the sad fact is we cannot stop them breeding only stop them registering the offspring and in less known unfashionable breeds that is often enough to put them off as they will probably not sell easily.
