Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Stringy discharge day 54
- By Hazenaide [gb] Date 09.02.14 00:52 UTC
My girl is only on day 54 and to-night had a long clear stringy discharge after her last step outside.
She is very heavy and sure I have had this before just once a week before whelping but looking for reassurance.
She is still eating but has slowed down a lot although was running in the garden earlier to-day with the others.

I wouldn't feel the need to worry, all sounds perfectly normal to me.  Stupid thing to say - what's normal!  But you know what I mean.

She could easily have the stringy stuff for a week with no problems.  And pups would be perfectly viable in 2 more days, so don't be too alarmed.

You know what it is like - you just want someone to say that it is normal LOL As always you just want everything to go well but as the time nears you worry more. She was mated late and I have always assumed she might be earlier but you don't want too early.
Fingers x'd

One of my ladies had this discharge for eight days before labour actually started, another for six. They were both very "big" toward the end, but both whelped on day 61 which is common for their breed.

Good luck xx

Thanks. All calm here, day 56, well as calm as it can be with 5 dogsLOL.
Puppies are definitely moving about as at this morning and she has started finding the place in the garden. Funnily enough that day was really long and stringy but not seen it since although she is cleaning herself all the time.
All my fingers X'd for a straightforward delivery????
