Just managed to weigh brooke 25.25kg She doesn't look particularly ribby but that was less than I expected. Would you go more by look than weight

I go by feel - my GR is very lean but he has a covering on his ribs and is fit, active and energetic. He is a good 4-5 kilos lighter than most other GRs I see out and about but the ones I see tend to be quite sedentary whereas mine never stops when out walking. He is working lines rather than show lines and my vet is very impressed with his condition and always comments on it - he will be 9 this year but apart from the lightening of the colour on his muzzle he looks and acts years younger than he actually is. He is still competing at agility and loves it.

If your dog has the right levels of energy then I wouldn't worry too much about the numbers on the scales.

I agree would go by eye/feel, if it helps my boy weighs 32kg but is taller than the breed average so just over 25kg doesn't sound a bad weight for a girlie :-)

thanks everyone. In that case she is fine just lighter than I expected on the scales :) As for energy she is more like tiger on speed !
Sorry Brooke no extra dinner !!

I would go by feel to.......but is this the same dog you have posted about wanting to eat everything and stealing food? If it is then maybe she is needing a bit more, she does sound quite light. One of my boys is quite a whizz kid and burns off a lot of nervous energy, he is much lighter in stature that the other one but it is this lighter one who is fed the most and he has not an ounce to spare on him. I am assuming she is wormed regularly and this is not causing her to be light and ravenous.

yes it is flattiemum. It would be interesting, although not fair to up her food substantially and see if that stops the stealing. She is due for worming but this has been a longstanding problem so will be doing that anyway.
She has been overweight and I got her to a good weight visually. One of the reasons I weighed her was because of the constant food stealing. the reason I say not fair is because I increase her food and she puts on weight again or it doesn't alter the stealing problem  am not sure she would cope well with food reduction again.
