Eg. if a new pup is 6 months and 3 weeks old but very new to showing etc I say 6 months. If it is a veteran 11 years and 11 months old I will say "12 next month!" rather than 11. :-) If a bit small for its age at 7 months 3 ½ weeks I say 7 months, etc. I will state it in months up until the age of 2, then I tend to say 2, 2½, might even say "3 next week" or whatever if I think it suits -but if it is a dog for instance about to turn 3 and still stuck in PG, it seems much better if it is just 2 years old rather than 3, so the dog may be 2 even if it will soon have its third birthday -after all, until the birthday it IS still 2!
