My bitch vomited 12 days ago, bringing up part of a washing up sponge and a t bag....she was ok in herself and I just withheld food a day and put her on chicken for a couple of days and she kept that down but back on her normal food she threw up again. So we went to vets who took her temperature and palpated her tummy. He was reluctant to x ray saying nothing would show and as she was well I should revert to chicken again and introduce kibble back slowly.

Well I started the kibble today and she only had a handful......5 hrs later she is throwing up.....Obviously I'm taking her back to vets and can only think the sponge has blocked in her intestines somewhere but I wondered if anyone else has had this and if it could be anything else? The kibble is one she has been on for a couple of years.

Many Thanks

I would be insisting on an x-ray, and use another vet if refused one.  Your money - your choice.

Any output from the other end?

Having had the misfortune to have had 4 blocks with the Flatties I have to agree it sounds like this. Is she toileting OK at the other end, not that this is always affected? Problem is the sponge, or whatever else she has eaten, may not show on x-ray and only by the Vet opening her up will the truth out. One of mine had swallowed the outer casing of a soft ball and it had lain in his stomach without any problem for some time until he ate some rotten fish causing him to vomit and it was dislodged. Only once it moved did it cause a problem and on opening up, as nothing really showed on xray did the Vets discover that it was starting to rot his intestine and we were lucky he had moved it when he did.

I am now paranoid if they throw up wondering if they have eaten something they shouldn't have!!

Hope she gets better soon.

Vets have x-rayed and nothing, also put a camera down and nothing. So now have taken biops. They are going to wait on the results from these before opening her up. They think it may be just an Inflammation but I still think it is a blockage. Anyways she is at the vets overnight
