Topic Dog Boards / Health / Update on sheltie's poorly leg

Hi All

As my sheltie's leg not much better we took her back to see the vet tonight.  Thank goodness the practice has a large state of the art hospital and we saw the orthopaedic specialist.

Surprisingly he said the problem is not the cruciate ligament as he had first thought but that the problem seems to be in the ligaments in the ankle area.  I had the impression this could be more problematic than the cruciate ligament, lots of small ligaments in the ankle.  So on Thursday she is going in to have a gen anaesthetic and an Xray to see what's what.

Hopefully we will then have some sort of diagnosis and treatment but at the moment she is still in her pen and seems a bit depressed although not distressed.  Thankfully she is insured but I just want my girl to be back to her usual fit and cheerful self.  She is a dog with the sweetest of natures.

Anyone else had similar injuries to their  dog?  Wish I had never thrown those balls for her on Boxing Day  ....

Sorry to hear it's not something more straight forward, but I hope you have some answers after the x-ray and your girl is feeling better soon :)
