If you contact the Breed Clubs/Associations and discuss what you are looking for they will help you find a responsible breeder who also shows.    They will also advise you on the relevant/required health tests for the breed.    In addition you will also be able to attend some breed club shows and get an idea of the type of Yorshire Terrier you prefer.

Good luck with your search :-)

If I was looking for a breed where I didn't know lines, breeders etc, I'd start by looking up show results online to see who was consistently doing well. Start with the two major ones for championship show results: http://www.fossedata.co.uk and http://www.highampress.co.uk

Also keep in mind if you get a puppy no one can guarantee it will grow to be show quality. I'd be warie of someone advertising a young puppy as show quality, show potential maby but untill it's mature you wont know as they can change so much.

I second that one...as a breeder you can only say it has show potential. I have bought 3 seperate pups(over the past 2.5 years) who havent turned out what I had hoped for, so we can all get it wrong & things can happen. After all a pup is only 8 weeks(generally) when we get them.

I agree - start with recommendations from the breed clubs and then look for, not necessarily the top breeder, but for someone who is consistently winning classes at Champ Shows and has sold puppies that others are winning with too. :)

Yep, if a breeder could predict which ones were going to make the grade all the ones we keep would be champions.

I think I have been extremely lucky to have 3 out of the 9 (8 chosen by me) I have owned go all the way.

I know very well that I have sold pups better than the ones I have kept, (sadly mostly in non show homes where they will never be seen by others, or bred from) hindsight is a wonderful thing.
