Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Rosettes

I just want to run passed people about their thoughts on re-cycled rosettes.

If  Rosettes are in great condition and new middles put in would anyone be offended being handed one .

It is a little survey I want to carry out.

I will respond as to why the club has to do this after a few replys.

Thank you

It really wouldn't bother me, I prefer not to see money wasted and I like a 'green' approach.  Might be worth putting a note in the schedule though espousing your 'recycle and re use' policy...

Hum.   I have boxes of rosettes and ribbons which I really should throw, but they represent so many memories that I'm loath to do that even if they are in the garage and I don't actually look at them!!   Given the cost? of these, these days, I'd imagine recycling them should be considered by more Clubs?

If they were in good condition and the middles had been put in well, ie not crooked and fitting properly, I doubt I'd even notice! :-D

As long as they were nice I would not mind.  But I would not let anyone have any of mine.  I have a few from the years with the horses as well as dogs but each one has a date and class on the back and far too many memories for me to give up

Seen it at a few cat shows. The centre piece needs removing and replacing, when a new one is stuck onto the old one it looks too obvious and sometimes it falls off. I wouldn't mind at all though. Only put things like BOB, BB, BD, RBB, BV etc on the wall and there are not enough space as it is. The rest just get chucked in a box and never looked at again. I was thinking of decorating the Christmas tree with old rosettes this year for something different, where it wouldn't matter if the decorations ended up getting chewed up -which is why I normally don't decorate the tree at all. (Cats are very helpful in removing items so that the dogs can get to them.)

I don't keep rosettes as you know, sometimes BPIS or BIS but not the rest.

No way I have room for all of them some years.... BOB at Ch shows are pants anyway so the rest I try to send to you.

I think they should be recycled for sure.

if it was done nicely and looked neat I wouldn't care or even notice.
If people don't want them anymore why not reuse them, save the club a bit of money.

We have boxes of ones from dogs we have lost & have kept but there is only so many one can keep when you have been showing for over 30 years. We do tend to either give back rosettes or let someone have them who runs a charity companion show(they replace middles). It doesnt take away the win you have had or the joy it has brought...memories cant be bought. I do think that main ones ought to be new but if the others are done properly then where is the harm?
