I currently have an iphone 4 that I upgraded ti ios 7 when it came out. Since the upgrade the phone is terrible, takes forever to send a text message or imessgae, takes at least 4 attempts to make a phone call as it wont connect and when I try to open anything on it i get a white screen for about 10-15 seconds while it catches up. Hubbys phone is exactly the same and im guessing that iphone 4 can't cope with running ios 7. Ive done some research online and it seems its common. My question is, has anyone got an iphone 5C or 5s and if so do you have the same problems? Thinking about upgrading but not going to waste my money if its just going to be the same!

Have you tried a factory install ?
- By mcmanigan773 [gb] Date 02.12.13 12:10 UTC
No i haven't to be honest, could be worth a go i guess. Its just really annoying I can be trying for an hour just to get an imessage to send! Was absolutely fine til i went on to iOS 7. from looking online it seems a lot of people have similar problems.

I've got a 5 but am too frightened to upgrade, I read there were teething problems. My OH did and I don't see any advantage other than lots of things have changed for, it seems, changes sake. I've only just got the hang of the older op system!

My 4S has been fine with ios7.

Mine is a 4 not a 4s so a bit older. Ive just bitten the bullet and bought a 5c, hope it works better than my current one!

I downloaded the latest update last week on my iPhone 5, and then it wouldn't hook up to my provider, I had to do a factory reset to fix the problem.

If you live near an Apple store book yourself in with one of their tech gurus, they'll get it sorted for you ~ it's a brilliant service :-) (and free!)

Apple Mac user for many many many years here, both at work and at home - gutted now that I have to use a PC (seems completely foreign) and can't afford an iPad or iPhone, but the Android system has a lot of the accessibility of Mac - a kind of compromise, I guess. Would love to be an Apple user again. I can't begin to list the massive favours and fun I have had using them over the decades.  The flying toasters had me at first flap.

I must admit im an Apple fan, have a Mac, Macbook, ipad and iphone. Just very disappointed with iOS 7 on my iphone 4. It was a case of put up with it or upgrade to the new phone in the hope that it copes better. I wouldn't even think of trying another make of phone!

It is said in techy circles when a new apple device comes out the older one's receive updates to slow them down making you feel you need to upgrade as your device is now so behind the times for speed :)
I have had apple device but I don't like the control they have of what you can use on your device like download clients etc so have had a Samsung galaxy s4 which blows the iPhone out the water :) however if your not technologically minded you don't get much more simple?e than a iPhone.

I had suspected this as several people have mentioned it before. That said I'm very pleased with my new iphone and I certainly wouldn't go for any other brand. :)

Have updated my iphone this morning - took the plunge when the app I wanted said that it wasn't compatable with my software (well it was IOS 5)   Took about an hour and it seems to have gone smoothly.  Thanks HG for the info - that gave me the confidence to go ahead.  Don't know whether I like the look of it and now I have set up a password/ number to unlock it every time which is a bit of a pain  but I will get used to it in time I am sure.  I am all up to date now :-)

If the iPhone is like the iPad, you will be able to change how long before the locking starts on the phone. I have set mine to one hour rather then every time I close the flap on the cover of the iPad. However I'm less likely to be taking the iPad with me everywhere unlike the phone risking it being stolen.

Thought I was problem free but I had a message last night to say that my phone needs to back up to icloud and I have only got 5GB of space.  Guess how much space the back-up needs!  Yes 5GB!  I can buy more of course!!!!    Started deleting things off my phone then realised that I would have to empty everything to back-up.  Ummm do I really need it!  As long as my photos and videos are backed up on my computer I am not sure I need anything other than a copy of my phone numbers.  Any thoughts on this anyone??
- By Jodi Date 09.12.13 10:38 UTC
Short answer, from my point of view, is no.
Like you, everything is backed up elsewhere and I leave nothing important on there. Don't trust anything these days!
My iPad says the same thing as yours, funny that. ;-)

Umm curious!  Not being cynical or anything ..........

Really strange when I go onto my computer and look at icloud storage it says that I have used 0.02GB of 5GB.
- By ceejay Date 09.12.13 13:55 UTC
oh no the blue bar has moved now to 0.02GB left! oh well.
- By Celli [gb] Date 09.12.13 17:07 UTC
How, odd, I have a lot of photos and games backed up to the iCloud and it's only taken up 2 thingymabobs of my 5 thingymabobs free allowance, I would have thought games would take up a lot of space.
- By ceejay Date 09.12.13 17:27 UTC
I have a lot of photos and videos on there - I must delete some stuff.
- By Jodi Date 09.12.13 17:57 UTC
I have a lot of photos on the iPad which I believe do take quite a bit of space.
