Topic Dog Boards / Health / Dog with pressure ulcers :-(

Our greyhound was diagnosed by the vet with a dislocation of a top toe joint. He was treated with splinting and bandage. The vet checked this on 2 subsequent occasions, but did not remove the bandage. Whilst this vet was on holiday, I became concerned and returned to the practice. It turned out that the splint has caused a deep ulcer on the ankle, and small ulcers on and between 3 toes. :-(
This was a week ago tomorrow - we return to see 1st vet, now returned from holiday, this morning. Peter chewed through his bandage yesterday afternoon, and the sores do not seem to have improved. Obviously we will discuss this with the vet - and express our disappointment and horror at what has transpired. However, we are where we are, and need to move forward. Has anyone any experience of hydrocollagen or alginate dressings in this sort of situation? I want to be able to have an informed discussion on the most effective way to aid Peter's healing.

We have returned from our vet visit, and the good news is that there is significant healing since yesterday. I am so pleased. We only need light dressings now. :-)
