Topic Dog Boards / General / Dog crate dividers/door access

Anyone know where I can buy a dog crate that comes with a divider and has two seperate doors on either side of the divider (if that makes sense). I have found one, but all of the others have a single door which, when the divider is in place, would only allow each dog access to half of the doorway to enter/exit!

You are probably best searching for car crates as they usually have two doors and a divider.
Try Croft, Dog health, Splendid Pets or a search on Ebay & Amazon.

All the ones I have seen are the same except ones which are designed to go in car boots.
I bought an extra large cage from doghealth, the beginning of this year which has a door on the side, a door on the end & an up & over door, it came with a divider which would be good if you use both end doors & not the side door(i never used the divider though).

I'd say it depends on where you are going to use it. I've got the crate from Dog Health which has a divider and the dogs go in either end. As others have said I think the only crates that have doors either side of the divider will be car crates.

Contact Hampster Baskets they will make you anything you want, whether it is a crate or a car crate

Thanks for the ideas all :)

I do need the doors facing outwards rather than on the sides of the crate as it is going to be used in the car. A search for car crate is bringing up a few more options. I need some kind of set up that will allow me to get 4 crates in the car ideally, or 3 if one of them has a divider (although looking at the measurements of the crates I'm not sure whether they end up a bit on the small side once the divider is in place). The car is a Ford Focus estate. I'm not picking it up until next week so don't actually know the exact measurements yet. Hoping I will be able to access the side doors of two of the crates from the back passenger doors as I'll have it setup with the back seats down (or perhaps I could access a crate with a divider in that way).

Barnesbrook can also make to your own requirements and are very helpful. I've had a crate from them in the past and he custom-made it so that I could move the central divider and allow one side to be larger than the other, or equal sized depending on where it was positioned. That might be useful for you. Here's the link: http://www.dogcages.net/

Another option would be to have a crate which opened at the sides (access via rear passenger doors) and put a tailgate with divider for the boot area.

Thanks both :)

Will have to have a think. Custom made to my measurements and requirements would be best but I don't want to spend a huge amount as the car is rather old and I'm not sure how long it will last!

I have a barjo single door tailgate and a dog guard for a 98-04 model ford focus estate if it's any use?

I got my crate from barnesbrooke after much research. Brilliant job he did for me around £300 for my jazz with movable dividers and escape hatch. Also no noise when you are travelling. Forgot to say everything is done to your requirements so he would do doors on each side of the divider.

I can't seem to make the email contact for Barnesbrook work on my system.  Can anybody give me an email address because I need some idea of prices.   We have a Peugeot 2008 Crossover and currently use a smallish crate with a side door for my Whippet, set up mid-ships and anchored to the back seat hooks (seats down) with my old benching chains, and my Basset travels in the back, not in a crate but ideally confined by the Whippet crate.  I might be interested in a purpose built crate from these people, if the price is do-able.

Ideas of prices from others here might tell me whether I'm in the ball-park.

I need one with a divider ideally but how much are you asking for it? Whereabouts are you?

This is a link to the website http://www.dogcages.net/

I can't remember how much my crate cost me but it was around the £350 price I think - that included delivery and it uses every inch of the available space and I would highly recommend the company. Rattle free and still looks as good as new.

My crate is very large, has a divider which I currently have set up for a 60/40 split to accomodate a Golden Retriever and a border collie. Can alter it to 70/30 split as well or remove the divider completely.

Yes unfortunately I only have the single door tailgate. So I suspect if you had a divider it would not be ideal. I used mine for my two dogs. I didn't separate them - just had them both in the same space.

Anyway Barjo selling the single door tailgate and dog guard for the 98-04 focus estate model for £385. I don't want that much! I'm looking for £150 for them together, plus £20 postage if necessary. I can't see that being any more than £20. I'm in North Yorkshire.

What year is your car? As only certain guards/crates will fit. As you say though you ideally wanted a divider so these wouldn't be ideal for you.

My car is '99 so it would work, but yes I need one with a divider and therefore two doors ideally. So expensive though!

Thanks anyway :)
