Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / plastic bags wind my puppy up to a monster!

There is something about a plastic bag that makes my 7 month old dog become a little monster.  I refused to remove him from the scene when I did the recycling bags and got him to sit and leave but this morning I got the rubbish bag out of the bin from under the sink.  Next thing I have is this nasty biting thing hanging off my hand.  He was biting quite hard - his little lower jaw shuddering and his eyes huge!  Just a rustle as I tried to tie the top.  I tried 'leave it' but it didn't work this morning - I couldn't move without rustling so I turned my back on him and took the bag outside.  When I got the fresh bag out he started aiming at that so I put him quietly in his crate.  I have no idea why this sets him off but it is more than trying to play.  I will have to do some work with treats and rustling bags to try to desensitise him but I have no idea why this sets him off.  I know that scuffing shoes sets him off to go for feet because he associates it with a ball being kicked which really excites him but have no explanation for this behaviour.  I think I posted before about this overexcitement when he was digging and I tried to remove him - it was much the same kind of response - I was so afraid that I had an aggressive streak in him. He normally has good bite inhibition.   Oh he is a collie by the way.

We used to have a cat who was frightened of tin foil. We wondered if he was a turkey in a previous life :-)

The Xbreed daughter had was a staff x and quite the 'tough guy' until he came across a feather!!! He would be walking round and having a sniff and suddenly leap about 3ft backwards if there was a feather on the floor. if you got a pheasant tail feather and waved it at him he would back off a little then 'nerve' himself, leap at it and shred it
Had him from 8 weeks and he hadn't been savaged by feathers or attacked by birds  :-D:
