Topic Dog Boards / General / Rottweiler proof Cat Flap??
- By Lea Date 07.10.13 19:20 UTC
We are getting a new door, and need a cat flap. The only problem is, the last cat flap lasted about 8 months as the Rottweilers push their heads through. It is now wrapped in packaging tape to keep it together!!!
Is there any that can withstand dogs heads???
This one also had a slide door to block it, the dogs quickly found out to push it up and get it off.
Is there any that can be blocked dog proof (could have done with it at the moment as got the decorators doing the outside of the house :o :o )

Our ferplast has lasted 5 years with three Labradors sticking their head out plus there cats in and out. A slight crack on the flap but stick intact

Our large dog flaps have lasted through 2 Berns, 2 Labs and a Rott, only the actual flap part has been replaced the frame work has stayed in tact, just your bog standard one off the internet, think it was about £40 or so for the dog version..

A friend of mine fitted a letter box cage to the inside of her door - I believe they simply used it upside down (with the lid removed).  If you look at this one here you can probably see how they made it work.  Their cat just went in and out underneath

A bigger cat might need a deeper frame, so that the cat flap opens more fully, but I would think you could customise a fire guard to do the same job...
