Hi I'm new on here but wanted to ask if anyone knows where a can get a mate tel from? I have a Bernese mountain dog who is due to come into season in the next few weeks and wanted to use this just to help out as we will have a 5 hour drive to stud dog so want to have as much info to go on as we can.
Many thanks
Sian

Have you thought of progesterone testing ? you can get the kits sent direct to you from Idexx.
Did this our selves a few weeks ago, and really is the best way of knowing when ovulation is to occur

Just an aside - presuming your bitch has been health tested and restrictions lifted .. good example of breed etc ? x

It is cheaper and easier to use a childs microscope, know several breeders who tried the Mate Tel and sent them back because the window you look through is too small, with a microscope slide you can move it around to get a better view and adjust the magnification

I gave my Mate Tel away because I thought it was rubbish. I agree that blood testing is the most accurate.

Hi guys thanks for replies. Yes my bitch has been health tested hips and elbows ok, I have a good relationship with her breeder and she has lifted all relevant restrictions, she has been very helpful in helping me find the right stud dog for my girl. I was only going to use the Matetel to give me a rough guide and than have her bloods done at the vets, just to be on the safe side. This is hers and my first attempt at a litter so wanted to get as much info as possible before going ahead! I do like to do a load of research on everything I do! Lol I just wanted to be doubly sure we have the right day for her as we would be driving from south east to West Midlands and it will be only one mating so we have to be sure!
