Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / APPLAWS v FLATULENCE

Interesting reading different threads about flatulence and being fed applaws complete. One of my girls started with really bad wind a couple of weeks ago. something she has never had even though she gets IBS. She had been getting some Applaws chicken and because of her wind issue I began giving her cooked chicken rice and live yoghurt. None of that worked so she is now getting granulated charcoal in with her chicken which seems to be helping. Seems like the Applaws could have been the culprit it the first place though. I was thinking of getting some Encore from Sainsburys, which is the same as Applaws but made by them for Sainsbury's, but I shall not be doing that now that I've read on here about wind and appear to have found out the cause of it in mine.

I have wind issues too with these high protein grain free food .. They just don't suit my dogs at all.
Now stick to quality salmon or duck and potato food, no wind, great condition and definitely better on the pocket :)

klb, that's good to know. I have a young Irish Setter here with dreadful wind. I've tried all sorts, but so far to no avail. I was thinking along the lines of Salmon or White fish and potato, so you've just confirmed my thoughts. I'm off to google right now!

Lots of good options around .. Challenge/ Simpsons etc. but I use the salmon or duck from www.workinghprs.com  great value, prompt service.

Funny hearing about this one.  Mine are on Applaws complete, and with the amount of dogs that I have, I would certainly notice the smell.!!

Doesn't seem to affect mine.  Thank goodness.  :-)

Some of mine are on Applaws - no problems at all...

My 4 are all on Applaws now and none of them have any wind at all. They're all doing very well on it.

Just highlights the fact that what suits one doesn't suit all, no question great ingredients on analysis but didn't suit my gang at all. They are all ok on raw, but find it difficult when traveling or when at the caravan (tiny fridge !!) hence trying the 80/20 kibble.
