I posted before about trying Applaws for our 14 year old lab after he'd been on Natural Instinct for a couple of years as due to having to be in rented accommodation for a while and then a renovation property, freezer space is going to be limited.
I tried Applaws Senior and that went very badly, he was extremely gassy, his poos were sloppy messes and his belly gurgled a lot and he even threw up bile which he never does normally....so I changed to Canagan as its slightly lower protein I think, which is def going better so far (he's been on it a few days). I've added a little probiotic goats yoghurt to it, and he really loves it, and he's a lot less gassy, no gurgling belly and no throwing up so far, his poos are a lot better than on the Applaws, but still fairly soft/wet...

So do I just wait....and hope the poos are better - or as someone suggested add some bone content - as this might firm up his poos - like chicken wing tips ? He doesn't like anything hard to chew anymore due to his teeth/age, so would they be soft enough? Or are they just going to upset his guts even more? He's otherwise perfectly happy normal old lab, just doing soft poos....

Have you got a Pets at home or similar near, Zuma has Burns food but I find adding a 1/4 block of Natures menu to each feed make a noticable difference to his poo as the NM has mince chicken including bones in most varieties and the blocks are quite small to tuck in a normal fridge/freezer, especially if you only get enough for a week or two at a time.

I've put my old RR boy, nearly 13, onto Forthglade Natural Menu. It's a cooked, wet food. He had torsion last year and now I prefer to feed him this. He's doing really well on it, motions are few and firm :)

I have found that Wainwrights trays give my dogs firmer poo. However, I've given up on dry food and feed WW trays and Nature diet which seems to suit my mature girl and my younger girl.

Funny how everyone has different results feeding the same thing!

I've used Applaws since Fish4Dogs changed their fish content.  Having so many dogs I do like to feed them all the same for convenience.

So, Collies, Yorkies and Chi's all get it.  All with firm poos and no farts.

One of my puppy owners uses Eden and very pleased with the pups condition.

All 5 of mine are now on Applaws and doing brilliantly on it, I'm currently using the chicken adult for 2 active adult silkens, puppy for a silken pup and the light version for 2 elderly spayed collies, all are eating well, look great, do tiny firm poos and have no wind.
