I have litter due, my girl is raw fed for the past year or more, my last litter was before I went raw.

So is it best to raise the litter on raw? How and when do I introduce kibble for the pups that will not be going to raw homes?

The way I do it is first solid meal is mince, then when they can manage two meals a day one of raw one of commercial food (canned or soaked dry), then once the pups are up to 4 meals a day it's simply two of each. That way they get used to both at the same time and have no issues moving from one food to another. I do the same with my kittens. The only problem I find is that everyone prefers the raw!!

Thanks for the advise, sounds sensible to me and yes I can imagine that they would all favour the raw

Do you have a preferred dry food that you use in conjunction with the raw?

I don't feed raw, but ... all my guys get raw, including my pups. I think as a raw feeder breeder you need to include commercial food within your puppy rearing as not everyone is going to be able to feed raw. I am sure most people who do so find it a doddle, however, the logistics of raw feeding is not for all of us. I for one don't have freezer space nor do I have the ability to feed raw as I'm away from home a lot. If you feed half and half then you leave it open for new owners to decide which way they go - as Goldmali has suggested. If I were you I'd feed the half that's commercial feed, the type you fed before you went to raw ... if that's a brand you have confidence in :-) Ask on the forum which commercial food to feed pups and you will, no doubt, receive a 100 hundred different answers ;-)
