Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / re-freezing raw meat

How many of you re-freeze your raw meat ? I have just picked up 20kg of Lamb breasts which are frozen and are now thawing out some so I can separate and portion them out for ease of feeding. Next week I will be doing the same to 20kg of chicken necks. I do it all the time, but wondered if anyone else did and if anyone has ever had a problem doing it. I do not need to completely thaw ...just enough to get apart and cut up.

I do it all the time too.  I'm a member of a raw feeding group on facebook and it seems to be very commonly done :-)

I have always done this :-) I also pick up bones that haven't been finished and put them back in the freezer ready for use another day - several refreezes for some bones.

Yes always.
I have little evidence that I need to other than others telling me about neospora...with no scientific research to back it up..... But hey..it's easier.

I to have done it for many years with no ill effects. I now have a freezer full of lovely new English lamb breasts. The girlies are happy to have been able to help tidy up by scoffing all the odd bits !!

I refreeze regularly and have been rawfeeding and refreezing for about six years with no problems.  I feel it's safer than leaving bits and bobs of meat around waiting for the next meal.
