Hiya. Im after some reccomendations.
I have about £100 to spend on amazon and wanting to buy some good professional dog clippers. Can anyone recommend any that are good and can be bought on there?
Thanks so much for the time and help.:)

I have cocker spaniels with very thick coats and I have an oster gold clippers and it is a great clippers. It doesnt overheat and has a large choice of blades. Very easy and safe to use.

I can't seem to see them on amazon. are they just cold oster gold? thanks:)

You need to search for Oster A5.

ive found them thanks, a little bit out of my price range unfortunately:(

I use the Oster A5 too.  Honestly, they are worth the added expense.  Don't scrimp on this as it costs you more in the long run.
You need to price the blades too as they will need replaced and might save you some money that way.

Andis 2 speed clippers...lighter & more comfortable to hold.  Very reliable & quiet too.
Mine are over 5 yrs old now & haven't had any prob's.  Well worth the cost.

I've had the opposite experience of Andis 2 speed. Granted, mine are about 10 years old now, but they've always been the same -and I only use them 3 times a year or so at most. They heat up so much within minutes you have to stop as the blade will be hot enough to hurt. It isn't the blades not being sharp either as it's the same when they have just been sharpened or indeed with brand new ones.

I'm a dog groomer groom up to 10 a day. Tried most brands, now won't change from and is super 2speed.

Thanks everyone. I can only spend £100 though as got other expenses(dont we all) i want the clippers for domestic use on my two dogs(small breeds) and i usally do it every 6-8 weeks so not too often. I can see some andis branded clippers on amazon ANDIS MBG Mk2 - Pet Pro . they have some good reviews online and also all this info on here http://www.peasridge.co.uk/acatalog/Dog_clipper_-_pet_owners.html. do you think this would be good enough for my own personal use?
thanks

Your original post said that you wanted professional clippers and this one says for domestic use so I'm not sure what you're looking for.

What breed are your dogs and are they neutered as both things will make a difference to the efficiency of pet clippers.

well this one says semi professional. so thats why i am wondering.  i said professional as i am struggling to do anything with the simple argos type clippers ive got at home. ive got a cavalier king charles and she is spayed, her coat got very bushy( and i dont show or anything so like to keep her short and nice before anyone says i should only use scissors). and my other one isnt spayed shes a cross of whesthighland terrier and lhasa apso.

That's exactly why the pet clipper won't go through it and the more you clip, the thicker it will be.

It really would be much better for your dog's comfort (although it may not be what you want) for you to learn to use thinning scissors on her coat.  It will keep her warmer in the winter and much cooler in the summer than having a thick blanket over her back all the time. :)
The choice, of course, is yours.

thank you for the advice, i appreaciate. i have been using a combination so far and my problem is it takes me forever to do cavaliers cut. thats why i wanted to use clippers and ones that wouldnt take me over an hour. with me having two dogs and busy family life its hard to find the time to do it.
im thinking even with a good pair of thinning scissors( got only some simple ones at the moment) it would still take me ages to do:/

i might do a bit more research and see what i come up with as i come across posts saying it ruins their coat. i dont want to do that even if it will take more time to sort her out. my only problem is i really like to keep her shorter as she sheds like mad and i prefer the look opposite to the show type look.

If you are short of cash your best bet for now might be to take them to a friendly groomer and just get him/her to clip the neck. It is really tough going when you're on a tight budget--"worth it in the long run" can be an academic argument. Maybe see if there is a supplier who sells reconditioned clippers?

It  might be better giving grooming suppliers a ring and see if any have second hand Andis or Oster in stock.  Usually you'd get the clipper and at least one blade for under £100.  I would try Christies as I've traded in and seen them there.  Second hand clippers serviced will be fine for a owner doing a couple of dogs, usually you'll get 6 months warranty, but after a service there's little to go wrong.  I used Oster for a few years but found they overheated, changed to Andis and while they still overheat a little (better to have a few blades) they are lighter and easier to manage.  Aescalup were also good but very pricey.

Edited to say.. Doe it have to be Amazon? because you won't get professional/heavy duty grade clippers for under £100 which is why I suggested a supplier of clippers.

With a bushy spayed Cavalier coat it's worth investing in a Mars coat king, I use it a lot on the pets I groom. Takes out loads of that fluffy rubbish, without ruining the top coat. Mine was about £20 10 years ago and they last forever. With the clippers, it's honestly worth waiting a little longer, saving up and buying the professional ones, even if you're only doing 1 or 2 dogs. I was amazed, having groomed my own cocker for a few years, when I started a grooming course and bought the professional starter pack via the college, at what a difference having the proper clippers and blades made, before I gained any more skill at all!

thank you. i am just loking at the mars coat king tools. just not sure of the size. i might give up on the clippers all together if its really making cavaliers coat worse and more bushy. i used to only do her front and sides of legs where the coat flicks, might get good quality thinning scissors. i only got crappy ones. anyone can recommend those and where to get them fromand yes clippers would have to be from amazon amazon cos ive got voucher codes for there. i was looking at groomers that sell their products through amazon too.
but as i said i might not just get mars kings coat and thinning scissors instead. my other dog can be done with cheap clippers ive got, it seems to do alright on her coat. not great but it could do till ive got more money.
thank you

I've not seen or heard of Mars coat King before. Just had a quick Google to find out what they look like. How do you use them? Do you just come through the coat and it removes hair and thin the coat at the same time? Are they suitable for Golden Retrievers?
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 07.05.13 17:55 UTC
It'll look a lot better with coat king and thinning scissors tbh, clippers definitely make the coat woolier and thicker. And yes, I've used the coat king on goldies, it's handy for the fluffy body hair in the same way. Just run it through the coat like a comb and it'll take the fluffy undercoat out and leave the topcoat nice and flat.

I have springer and cocker spaniels and have Wahl Moser Max 45 clippers and find them very good.
