My raw fed girlies can be fussy about raw organ meat... however I have discovered that they love frozen hears and liver... so from now on after each breakfast they will all get a small chunk of frozen raw liver or heart to finish of thier meals...sorted !! Aileen
I'm sure its to do with the texture (think Lucy suggested partially cooking to me?) - mine think its something poisonous the way they react - liver gets partly cooked but will try frozen possibly. The don't seem to mind heart raw defrosted though for some reason!
I feed chicken livers raw and not frozen which they like and other offal but I don't like the smell especially liver so they are fed it all frozen solid. A nice size heart keeps them occupied for a bit other wise they swallow them whole :-O
I also feed fish frozen as the tend to do seal eating impressions and then we have regurgitation about three four times ( nice not !) so having it frozen they have to chew it and stops the regurgitation !
Nando eats little bits of frozen liver too! I have to stand over him to make him eat it when it is in his bowl on its own and defrosted. He likes it but it doesn't excite him like it does other foods and he starts getting more interested in everything else other than eating!
furriefriends Have you tried mixing oily fish with tripe? I grind smelts and mix with tripe that's the only way Moose will eat fish, she's very picky lol. The Boston's Love fish.
I havnt but its worth a try. I use tinned pilchards usually in tomato sauce or spring water. I know some people say they are too high in salt but the tin doesnt show salt as added and they dont have that often

I think the tripe over powers the fish. Since I grind my fish then make a mush with the tripe works great. I only feed the smelts nice little oily fish. But so far only once a week to expensive to feed more often.
