I am a member of one of the many pet sites on Facebook...how I manage to stay polite with some of the people on there I don't know!! Recently someone was trying to rehome 2 dogs, a 4 year old and a 6 month old- reason for rehoming...needed money to buy a new bed for her grandson :( Since then this person has tried to adopt a collie cross, 2 rabbits and a kitten from the same site!! She has now obviously gotten hold of a gsd bitch ( from who knows where!) and has replied to a stud advert (for a husky) asking if they would allow it to mate her bitch!!! Have had to come off Facebook for a while before I say something and get banned ;) Am going to politely comment on the thread once I am calmer and remind both people that the rescue places are full of unwanted dogs without them adding to the problem by breeding 'on a whim'!! Sorry for the rant! :)

I don't know how any of you do cope with looking at these sites, I can't bare it so much so, I've stopped looking!
My last viewing was a converstation much like this:
A) Just got my dog back she should be up the duff, if anyone wants a pup it will be first come first served as they go fast! They will be KC registered,
B) Your dog is not KC registered the pups will be kennel registered and you'll get a pedigree like I did,
A) What's the difference?
B) KC is for show people kennel registered for pets. (Give me strength!!!!
)
A) Oh, I don't understand it, just watched a video on Youtube about the 'labour' and I don't think I can do it. (the poor bitch
)
B) You'll be alright I was, them pups you're having will sell for £500 you should have about 5.
That was it for me, can't watch this 'abuse' of innocent dogs and pups lives anymore, and total ignorance. Too late to educate once the whelps are on the way from untested parents and owners who have no clue about what can and does go wrong.
I just know that the public are being duped all the time when people are declaring their dogs are kennel registered with a pedigree mistakenly believing that means Kennel Club registered.
It's like not registering your new born baby at the official registrar office. :-( Pointless.........

My local pets and accessories page tests my patience on a regular basis with obviously clueless idiots breeding from their pets and offering dogs up for stud... usually of the "cockadoodle-poo" variety :-(

I have enough trouble talking to people who think differently about their dogs so dont look at the sites.
Conversation had recently with someone who had dogs for years and clearly loved them very much.
after paying £2000 for a bull dog pup the dog developed luxating patella and needed multiple operations. She had hoped to have two from the same litter
Another of the same breed similar price had temperment problems they owner pursuaded the vet to refer for tests and foun d the dog had hydrocephulus and was treated and subseuquently lived a good life
Also one of the pups she had was bought as a christmas present given as a total surprise on christmas day.
This person adores her dogs and was prepared to pay whatever it took to keep them happy and health and
after all this the person said the problem was people breeding pedigrees that had caused the health problems that had appeared in her dogs !!!

I got banned from one as the admin was totally anti rescue. Someone was selling a little bitch and I advised them to be careful and offered to get it into rescue. Two weeks later new owner wanted it gone instantly and was selling it for a profit on the same site! The admin even offered to go and pick it up but I couldn't as I might get it into a rescue. I imagine the admin also saw a possible profit but the original owner got it back. God knows if she still has it.

I have had to respond to this one :-
This female makes a fantastice mum she has had 1 litter of stunning puppies she would make a great investment for anyone This is a beautiful and super friendly and loving puppy , she is a bundle of joy and always pleased for some company . She is fully injected and micro-chipped , She is a designer dog and absolutely stunning . She is unspayed and would make a very good breeding dog or alike a companion friend .

That one might be a scam. The usual suspects from the free-ads are moving onto FB and harvesting a fresh crop of fools who fall for them. They are fairly easy to spot, as the ads don't always make sense - their profiles are very sparse, almost no posts or photos, and the few friends they have are usually overseas. They usually ask for PMs/inbox only or to 'friend' them, and don't reply to questions posted on the group.
There was one the other day for Bichon pups - someone spotted it immediately, and commented: "You obviously aren't in the UK - I'd never get a plug into the electric socket in the background of your photo!"
in the local paper where i live some one has has a 8 year bitch and her six jackoolde puppies stolen from her garden shed she was trying to find them and also saying the pups where worth about 4 - 6 hundred pounds each and that the mother had a least two more litters in her this was on the inside front cover about a fifth of a page my blood was boiling

Well just popped back onto facebook and found that the gsd/ husky mating has been planned :( its all sooooooo easy.....
A 'would you consider mating him to a gsd?'
B 'yeah fine'
A 'not sure when shes coming in i'll add you so I can let you know when'
B 'ok added'
Thats it, breeding planned in 4 sentences, no questions, no mention of health tests or temperment....makes me mad! Poor dogs having to live with owners like these! Would come off the site completely but there is occasionally the odd person who is actually commited to their dog and I have been able to point them in the direction of good training classes etc....

There's a blue merle Chow Chow on FB at the moment from two merle parents.
The person claims to have " rescued" it from death because the "breeder" takes the risk of eye anomalies and culls the affected ones.
This one had one eye.
The proud owner deletes any comment which pleads for it not to be bred from.
With comments like..."pure merle chow" "stunning example" and "so exciting and rare"... Any guesses how that will end?
Best not to look.
Looking at this stuff reminds me of a film where somebody suddenly can hear all the pleadings of the sufferers in the world, hears all the pain and woes until it drives him mad.
I repeat...Best not to look.

We bought a garden shed off Ebay and went to pick it up today. Turned out the wife has 2 litters - the Chorkie litter is 4 days old and the Shih Tzus were born today. She was quite irritated that the other dog, a Boxer bitch, had had to be spayed without having a litter as she'd had a prolapse. She said the neighbours complained all the time about the dogs barking, I would have been ringing the council about her being a puppy farmer!

How did the film end?
There must be people who aren't driven mad by it all, in fact they are badly needed, to raise awareness. It hurts to see these ads and to read a thread like this. But how many of us, if we're not on these groups ourselves, know what goes on? Or choose to be deaf? I'm not having a go, but there are sound reasons for keeping an eye on this rubbish breeding culture that has arisen.

I heard a rumour that the taxman has taken to using facebook
I fervently hope it's true >:) It will possibly be the one thing that slows these people down.
> I heard a rumour that the taxman has taken to using facebook
Oh I do hope so.
Though as many people are on there as [made up but similar examples] 'Kerry Lovely Mummy' or 'Alfie Charlotte Cuddles Cutie Smith' I wish them luck.
There was one chap selling cats in my area not long ago, he did seem dodgy, but really I had no idea exactly
how dodgy. Turns out he went to visit someone advertising a dog on one of these groups and sexually assaulted her. He had previous, so he's been jailed.

And he was using an alias on FB, as he'd been previously banned from using it, possibly by an injunction.

" God give me the serenity to accept things which cannot be changed;Give me courage to change things which must be changed; And the wisdom to distinguish one from the other."
If this all starts with us all keeping our OWN house in order, helping others we KNOW keep theirs....and give generously to groups who CAN change things, I feel this is more realistic than looking through the window onto the worse excesses of human nature.
Just my opinion of course.
