Ok sojust on fb and ive asked a lady how much her choc standard poodle pup is.she ask me if she would be for breeding or pet as theyre difference in price....ok but dad isnt kc reg and pup is parti factor....so how the hell can she be charging more???
I didnt actually want the pup but i was interesed...yeah okbein bit nosy and wondered...(gorgeous pup) but am bit annoyed...is that normal???
cos i cant see how she'd have any hold over anyone wanting to breed her anyway shes not kc reg....i dont get it
- By Brainless [gb] Date 21.03.13 23:25 UTC
No not normal practice.

Out for what they can get, unregistered so why woudl it be for breeding and why was it bred in the first place with an unregistered sire.

Say you want it for a pet and breed from it anyway. That's the modern ethic, if you're buying unregistered dogs. I'd bet there are people out there who would breed from a dog born with three legs and two heads just to make a few quid :(

no offence but are they really that stupid that they think they can charge more for a'breeding right' over a dog they cant stop being bred?
i dont want the puppy i do wish the puppy good health and happiness dont get me wrong but the womans  said to me IVE BEEN BREEDING 20 odd years i felt like saying really well thats a shame....

Seems if she has been breeding for 20+ years, yes............ people are that stupid. :-( :-( :-(

Shame that she hasn't improved her breeding practices over the last 20 years!

probably like the person who just contacted me wanting a dog puppy. They have just bought a female puppy of the same breed and want a stud dog for her!!! They did give me her parents names so I could say whether my puppy would be a suitable mate for her.  There are so many things wrong with this and I don't think this person could understand why I wouldn't sell her a puppy

Probably me being snotty but it riles me
rant over FOR NOW

Or like the ones that think they can just turn up with cash and take a puppy no questions asked, and why are you asking all these questions when they have bought dogs before and not been asked.
The ones that go to another breeder when you say your puppies will have their registrations endorsed, despite spending a lot of time explaining why.
The one who got shirty when I said they had to come and do a least one visit, prior to purchase, and could I not just deliver the puppy !!!
I just think I am glad that I found out early enough and that they went elswhere. I breed very little, and put my heart and soul into it when I do.
Despite all the long hours and hard work, I find the whole process of vetting new puppy owners the hardest and most traumatic part.
With my last litter I was lucky that most people were from within the breed, or I had been able to get to know them prior to the bitch being mated, and so good relationships had already been established by the time the puppies were ready to leave for their new homes.
Thankfully it was a small litter and I was keeping a puppy for myself, so the nest wasn't quite so empty once they had gone.
Some of the messages you see on the pet sales pages of facebook just make me cringe, they sell pups and kittens on there like you would an inaminate object rather than a living breathing animal.

IVE BEEN BREEDING 20 odd years

And obviously learnt nothing about good breeding practices :(

It really gets to be how these people are happy to exploit their animals with no hesitation. And it is not just bitch owners, the amount of dogs available at stud and the amount they are being used is shocking, and what is even more shocking is how the owners proudly state how many litters they have sired. I saw one the other day for one poor lad who had sired 75 litters and counting. Another wanting £200 plus pick of litter!! These stud owners are so mis-informed its unbelievable, they still believe it is their dog that produces large litters and the amount I have seen that state they offer two matings on days 10 and 12, they really believe that this is the only days that bitches can mate, and then they add that they can help advise on all aspects of the whelping and rearing process as they are experienced breeders!!

One that really shocked me was this advert...

ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION (A.I.) - Do you have a very nervous girl who just doesn't want a boy to go near her? Or has your girl hurt her back leg and won't let a stud mount her? Then we can help, all of our equipment is 100% sterile and is a lot less intrusive than a male dog.

Totally shocked that someone would advocate breeding from a nervous or injured bitch :( They offer all sorts, from scanning, whelping your bitch and stud dogs and say they are experienced with 10 years of loving dogs. Crazy :(

And then when you think you have seen it all. I have just seen an advert for someone looking for a stud for their bitch asap. They are asking if anyone has an unproven boy who they want to prove on their girl. If anyone who like to prove their boy they can do on her bitch for a small fee!!!!!

Well that is certainly a new one on me!

Some of the adverts just make me want to cry, I have had to stop looking as I worry where all these pups will end up.
And how can people can just sell there adult dog or cat to anybody ? They just put them on a site like an old an unwated pair of shoes.
I can understand that in some circumstances people would need to rehome a much loved animal, but some of the reasons given, new baby, moving house just so sad.
Labs you are right the stud dog owners have a lot to answer for, a decent stud dog owner is very careful who uses there boys, these people are just despicable !!!

Hi, I'm unsure of this is off topic slightly but my family and I are looking for a new addition and whilst researching and scouring the internet for puppies have come across so many "made up breeds". No longer do you see mongrel or cross they call jugs, jackapoo, cockapoo and patterjacks is this because of the labradoodle? And how do these people think these animals are worth very close to full pedigree money am I wrong in my thinking?
- By St.Domingo Date 24.03.13 08:03 UTC
It is people charging more for their 'designer' breeds, and people being prepared to pay for them.
IMO you are better going to a pedigree breeder who has done relevant health tests and breeds for the improvement of the breed.
Good luck with your search !
