My dog took a twisted stomach last week. Luckily she is now recovering after operation. She has always had a sensitive stomach so not all foods agree with her. Up until last week I was feeding fish4dogs. Then I read things on here about fish4dogs. I wont be feeding her fish4dogs anymore. She has eat Chappie Complete in the past and it has agreed with her ok. But I dont know if Chappie Complete would be suitable for her now that she has suffered a twisted stomach? Can anyone recommend a food to use that is ok for a dog that has had a twisted stomach? Thanks.

For a while I would not feed dry food why not use Chappie original tinned.

Your regular food will be fine, but I would soak it well first and do that from now on. There is some evidence to suggest that food expanding in the stomach is one of the contributory factors of bloat/torsion.
I put my old boy on Forthglade, which is a "wet" food which comes in a plastic tray. I believe that Nature Diet is similar. I kept him on this for a long time before I gradually reintroduced his dry food. I also had him on several small feeds a day rather than his normal two feeds.

My little dog is thriving on tinned Chappie after a bout of acute gastritis. I have heard it is a good idea to feed your dog smaller amounts and encourage them to eat much more slowly. Why not increase the daily feeds and buy one of those bowls that stop them eating so quickly - it might help.

From my reading on the subject you need a food that doesn't swell as much as kibble when it hits the stomach. Chappie wet gets great reviews, I personally used to use naturediet when Nando was fed this way. Prize Choice could also be a good one to look into, it's raw and very 'wet'

Soak any dried food well before feeding it so that it doesn't swell in the stomach.

Naturediet or anything similar should be fine

After my bitch bloated, she was fed on her kibble soaked and nature diet in 4 small meals plus some natural yogurt. She was on that for 2-3mths, then gradually she went back onto her kibble and tinned meat/tripe.

Thanks everyone for your advice. She is doing ok touch wood on chappie original tinned food. I will give her a variety now and again so that she doesnt get fed up with the same food so I have all the names of the different foods mentioned here.
